Repetitive Foot Strain Injuries and Orthotics

As a NYC chiropractor, I have heard the frustrations of patients’ hitting a plateau when dealing with a repetitive strain injury.

The foot architecture is often an overlooked factor in kinetic chain dysfunction (back, pelvis, hip, knee, and lower leg), that prevents optimal movement patterns. Custom orthotics can optimize efficient shock absorption and power output in walking, running, squatting, cycling, and preferred activities. Are you ready to breakthrough plateaus and feel better with movement? It is time to address the movement dysfunction in your feet with orthotics.

Orthotics are corrective devices which help to ensure proper mechanics by realigning the bones and muscles of the feet and lower extremity. Orthotics direct the feet in the proper position for gait, help eliminate pressure points, provide correct rotation of the feet, and decrease painful overuse of muscles and ligaments. Orthotics are used long term as part of normal shoe wear. The orthotic serves as a specific therapeutic device to prevent further injury and facilitate the healing process.

At CSC+M, we are committed to providing the highest quality clinical care. We use an orthotic laboratory that shares our philosophy and offers the highest quality orthotic products and service. We use a foam cast impression (semi-weightbearing) from which a positive mold is made at the laboratory where the orthotics are fabricated to conform to your individual feet as per instructions and measurements obtained during the examination.
Orthotics at a glance: we use subortholene in 80% of our athletic orthotics.

We use a 2mm-5mm shell depending on the patient’s weight and support needs. We make the orthotics to fit your feet not your shoes, however specialty orthotics are available for specific fashion shoes and we have a “barefoot” orthotic available for minimalist shoes.

Other signs of movement dysfunctions that orthotics can help: excessive pronation (flat feet) or supination (high arches), toe out/in, knees knocking together (valgus) calluses, bunions, early fatigue, sore muscles, and inability to “fire” the glutes.
