Active Release Technique is a well-established form of soft tissue rehabilitation. It allows the practitioner the opportunity to feel and find soft tissue adhesions and alleviate the symptoms associated with the adhesion with a specific set of active stretches.
Benefits of Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique was started many years ago by Dr. Michael Leahy, a chiropractor. He devised a specific set of rules and stretches that correlate with certain pain patterns. The benefit of such a system is the ability to allow practitioners the opportunity to follow a diagram for the pain the patient is experiencing and attempt to alleviate the pain with active movement patterns.
Active Release Technique is broken down into unique modules based on the area that is being treated. Spine, upper extremity, lower extremity, and nerve root entrapment are examples of different classes that need to be completed in order to treat a patient properly. Each module consists of approximately 100+ movement patterns that must be mastered before you can become certified in the module. There is both a written and practical examination for each module.
Here at The Center For Spine Care and Mobility, there are two NYC chiropractors trained in the Active Release Technique. By combining the effective soft tissue system of the Active Release Technique in conjunction with chiropractic manipulation, physical therapy, acupuncture, and or massage, we offer the patient the best opportunity to achieve pain-free movement.
The key to effective treatment of musculoskeletal injuries is the ability to combine multiple modalities when necessary to achieve optimal results. The Center For Spine Care and Mobility offers our patients that chance all under the same roof, at the same facility, and on the same day.
