Covid fatigue hit me hard after Thanksgiving with the constant beat down of quarantine… When will we be back to pre-COVID stats? Will school be remote forever? How long will we be postponing family events? Canceling vacations?
Lack of sleep does not help, but now that the weather became colder my exercise took a downward plunge while my caloric intake soared. This January we decided to get a peloton and (5 days in)—it is life changing.
I started the prerecorded 6 week course “Mastering the Basics” class and followed that up with a 10 minute stretch. 5 classes in and I’m hooked (and I haven’t even taken a “live” class yet).
I’m waking up before 5AM to ride, and cadence, resistance and power have become part of my lingo. I can’t wait to work up to 45 minute advanced beginner classes, and then take the “Discover Your Power Zones.”
Find something that empowers you to own 2021. We can’t control everything in our lives, but we can surround ourselves with the tools for success. Whether its peloton, soul cycle, crossfit, personal training, or working out on your own. Make sure you are getting these five things.
- Fitness: I’m excited for peloton’s programming — I have a plan for the next 10 weeks to build a fitness foundation and create a platform to maintain gains.
- Core Strength: The basic classes allow me to focus on form, core strength, posture, breathe, and flexibility
- Recovery: The floor classes are great to target and address dysfunctional movement patterns and old nagging injuries. The peloton is more than a bike-the app allows you to do workouts every day.
- Energy: I find when I exercise I have more energy during the day and actually sleep better at night.
- Mental Health: Peloton Instructors ooze positive energy, and it is impossible for some to not get stuck to you.
